Bible Verse For Today Friday 23 May 2025 Morning Reading
1 Timothy 2:1–2 (KJV) “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
Message: “A Call to Intercessory Responsibility”
In these verses, Paul is instructing Timothy—and by extension, the Church—to prioritize prayer, especially intercession for others. This isn’t optional. Paul says “first of all,” indicating that prayer should be a primary concern in the life of every believer.
Paul names different types of prayer:
Supplications – earnest, specific requests;
Prayers – general communion with God;
Intercessions – standing in the gap for others;
Thanksgiving – expressing gratitude, even for leaders and situations we may not fully agree with.
What is striking is the clear command to pray “for all men,” and specifically for kings and all in authority. This includes political leaders, government officials, and spiritual authorities. Why? So that the Church may live quiet, peaceable lives marked by godliness and honesty. When leaders are guided by divine wisdom, the people can flourish.
In today’s often divided and hostile world, this verse is a prophetic reminder of the Church’s role not just as a voice, but as a priesthood—called to lift nations and leaders before God’s throne.

Prayer:
Righteous Father, Thank You for the privilege of prayer. Today, I lift up all men before You—friends, strangers, and even those I may not understand. I especially intercede for those in authority: government leaders, policy makers, spiritual heads, and community influencers. Give them wisdom, integrity, and hearts that seek justice and truth.
Let Your peace reign in our land, and may Your Church live in godliness and honesty. Help us to be faithful intercessors—salt and light in a world desperate for Your guidance. Use our prayers to shift atmospheres and birth revival. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
